Adopted

Hanging out at camp

Young people who are adopted possess numerous strengths. They also share many commonalities with all of our campers. While some things are currently more difficult for them, it is important to understand that all our campers are held to the same set of expectations. Young people who are adopted can struggle with attachment issues or concerns about their self identity.

In addition, they may be diagnosed with AD/HD, Learning Disability, Aspergers Syndrome, or similar. Peer relations, self-expression, and problem solving skills are often areas of concern.  These struggles have an impact on  self confidence and self esteem.

Camp Buckskin helps our campers who are adopted improve their skills in their need areas to become more successful. We accomplish this through a structured, consistent program that provides a comfortable environment to grow in. The support and guidance of our trained staff initially help campers adjust to camp. They then learn skills that position them to make and maintain relationships.
