Weekends

Fun in the sandSaturdays and Sundays are special days at Camp Buckskin where the overall daily schedule is followed except for the regularly scheduled activities. Instead, the campers participate in ‘Cabin Unity Day’ activities, such as nature hikes, canoeing, team building activities, sports tournaments, waterfront activities, group discussions, or special projects.

The members of each cabin group -- with staff supervision -- practice their decision-making, interpersonal communication, and negotiating skills to plan the cabin group’s schedule for the day. Getting the various individuals in each cabin to compromise and agree on the group's plan is seldom easy. However, we believe that it is necessary to practice these skills because few abilities are acquired without practice, and the long-term benefits are worth the effort.Structure

On Sunday mornings, camp offers a nondenominational service called 'Chapel' in which campers and staff participate in discussions, songs, skits, sharing inspirational stories/quotes, and other activities surrounding the theme for the week. Themes for chapel may include Teamwork, Respect, Friendship, Perseverance, and Leadership.
